Kybella is a  minimally invasive fat reduction treatment  approved by the FDA for submental fullness or “double chin”. It is the first and only FDA approved injectable treatment to reduce fat under the chin!

How does Kybella work?

Kybella contains Deoxycholic Acid, which permanently destroys fat cells in the submental area. Fat cells will not regenerate in the area of injection after desired result. They will also not regenerate around the area. Submental fullness can give the appearance of being heavier than you actually are. Weight gain, genetics, and certain sleep positions can affect this area.

What does the procedure entail?

After determining a client’s unique anatomy, a skin grid will be applied to the area based upon consultation. Certain landmarks to avoid will also be marked. A topical anesthetic solution will be applied. The actual procedure is a very thin needle injected close to the grid markings.

Are there any possible side effects?

There will be swelling and bruising for approximately 1 week following injection. This will be discussed in consultation. The area may feel numb for months after the injections. The nerve that controls motion of the lip, the marginal mandibular nerve, runs about 1 cm away from where the medicine is injected. If this nerve is damaged, there may be temporary weakness of the bottom lip. Precautions are taken to avoid marginal mandibular injury.

How many treatments does it take?

It usually takes a minimum of 2 treatments to achieve the desired profile of Kybella. This is customizable based on client goals and budget.
